Yokohama Terminal

The Yokohoma Terminal, monolithic in scale and material, begins to renegotiate the ground plane and roof. At first glance, the terminal appears to be a misshapen alien form, but when actually in the structure, the "strangeness" disappears and the terminal becomes a giant viewing platform, where planes rise and collide to create a shifting interior and exterior. The roof becomes the ground plane or a deck of a ship, separated from the rest of the land. The destination is the roof, illustrated the greater number of people simply hanging out to enjoy the sun, treating it as a park that rests in the port city. Roof, ground, and water serve to give the Yokohama Terminal an fiting site in its given context.
